, this hotel is much better than the price suggests; the room and hotel are what you would expect however the cleaniness and service is five star. the staff are friendly and knowledgable and all speak english., the only difficulty was the area, it wass nice not to be in the centre, however, the information provided in the rome travel guide's is incorrect, the metro closes at 21:00. this means if you want to experience the centre at night, only a long bus ride will get you in and out. although, the restaurant next door 'ascari' was the best meal i have ever experienced!! furthermore, the local prices are half that of the centre, enjoy!, all in all, great but be wary of the restrictions the distance from the centre will cause.,

, the location of the hotel was right in comparison with what was on the web site. however, the breakfast was not so good, the "croissant" and the pieces of bread were frozen food and the cutlery were not really clean. on the other hand the room was very nice and very clean. a good point is that the subway station "numidio quadrato" is really near and there is a wonderful restaurant next door. the team of the hotel was also nice. we stayed 5 nights.,

, fuimos a roma el verano del 2006 y nos alojamos en este hotel. nos dieron precisamente la habitación que aparece en la foto de esta web y es muy bonita, está en el ático del edificio y tiene una terraza muy grande. me encantó la habitación!!! el chico que está a la hora del desayuno fué muy atento con nosotras y no dudó en respondernos cualquier pregunta relacionada con roma. en recepción no hablan español, nos costó un poco hacernos entender pero al final todo bien. el ordenador con conexión para internet estaba estropeado.,

this was a great value for rome and we lucked out with a parking space in front of the hotel for free. it isn't fancy, but you don't really go to rome to stay in a hotel room., a quick walk to the metro, though getting into the city took some time. the upside, hanging out with the commuters. this is not a good place for people with mobility issues.

there is a really nice restaurant next door to the hotel. good variety in the menu and pretty good value for money. some nice cafes within 5/10mins walk from hotel

our room was good enough, but not more than that. it was on the backside and therefore quiet. for the others on the streetside it was not quiet at all. the breakfast was a bit poor. enough coffee and bread and a bit fruityoghurt, but no cheese, meat or egg's. our room was as on the foto's, but not as warm as far as the coulors. the shuttle is only from/to the main airport.... not for us therefore... it is close to the metro (numidio quadrato), so the city is always close although the position is pretty far outside the city.

a very good hotel for people which don´t need much comfort(only for sleeping and breakfast). the metro is 3 minutes away and it takes about 15 minutes to the centre., direct at the metro station is a cheap cafe (good cakes and lunch) also a good pizza restaurant is near the station about 200m on the main road from the exit.

wir waren 4 tage in rom. aufenthalt super: tolle stadt. lage des hotels gleich in der nähe der u-bahn, anschluss in die city super. zimmer/bad sauber, frühstück für italienische verhältnis gut. rezeption sehr nett, englisch sprechend, und sehr bemüht, uns verständliche auskünfte zu geben. hotel liegt ein wenig außerhalb, preise in der umgebung somit richtig ok. und alles in der nähe: kiosk, supermarkt, einkaufscenter, eisläden, pizzeria, etc. war für den kurztrip ideale unterkunft. würde wieder kommen.

i stayed here with my husband and daughter for a 6 day stay. short walk to metro "numidio quadrato" and easy access to anywhere. breakfast was nice - especailly eating on the roof terrace. only disappointment was that we couldn't use the phone as we hadn't got a card. also, some info needs to be provided in the rooms. we were given a useful map.

esta retirado pero posee muy buena comunicacion ya que tien una estacion de metro a 150 mtrs. que te acerca a termini en 10 minutos. la zona es buena tiene gran diversidad de negocios, restaurantes y bares., algunas habitaciones no tienen bidet, el desayuno es bueno. vale la pena realizar la experiencia.

cute place but too many "issues"! the person who greeted us was very cold and unwelcoming - she handed us a key and pointed to the elevators (and made certain we knew she had been waiting for us). front desk staff were usually on personal calls (took over 4 hours to get through and advise of our late arrival). some staff were very friendly, others were cold and distant. hotel is ok and room was fine (very basic), but the neighborhood is pretty run down (women traveling alone should not stay here). street noise made it very difficult to sleep. location is 20 minutes (including walk & subway) from the main attractions in rome, and the subway closes at 9:00 pm... makes evenings a little difficult (or expensive to return by taxi). overall, we loved rome but would stay somewhere else next time.

my mom and i spent a really good time in this hotel which is located near the metro station. the breakfast was very good and the people working there were very kind and helpful. the only negative point is the map provided to get there : if you do not ask for the pick up and come by metro (line a), you should get out at "numidio quadrato" stop and ask for your way. roman are really nice and helpful. thanks to the city guest house for the nice stay !

the hotel is priced correctly for what they offer. clean rooms and friendly reception. there is no bar or restaurant at the hotel but there are some near by. breakfast was ok/sufficient - fresh breads, coffee & fruit juice etc. the location is good for flights in/out of campino airport only 25 euro for a taxi (taxis are cheaper than shuttle bus service to this hotel). its very close to the metro station but look out for public transport strikes in roma, the hotel is a long walk (about 40 minutes) to the nearest attractions if no taxis are available., the road outside the hotel is a little noisy but rooms facing away from the road are available and they are much quieter.

i went with my girlfriend and we stay on a double room (big room), the hotel is very clean and the competence of employees is very good. they will help you with every doubt you may have. the hotel is 3 minutes far from the metro. it's far from th center but in metro you'll get there in 10-15 minutes. there's a italian - chinese restaurant in front (good food and very cheap), some mini markets, a small shopping center near the metro... i recommend this hotel for everyone who want's to save money but not saving in quality.

we were there for a couple nights. the double room we had did not look like the photographs. it wasnt as 'new and bright'. the a/c while it did work was on the verge on not working. however, there was a heat wave while we there. we had wire type beds that squeaked a little and were average in comfort. bathroom average. overall though the room was ok though. it was clean, spacious and comfortable to come back to after a long day of battling the streets of rome. maybe we were just unlucky and got what was left over. location was a little suspect but nothing to be worried about. hotel was close to the main shopping road in that area so that was beneficial for getting food, water, supplies etc. there were lots of shops. hotel was also conviniently close to the metro entry/exit. it didnt take long to get into central rome via the metro. you remain on the same line few a stops. we found the metro is good to catch. a light breakfast in the nice outdoor area was provided. the girls at reception spoke english and were very helpful. in summary, nothing flash but for us just a place to stay. convinient to metro and local shopping.

this was our first stay at the hotel. breakfast was nice on the roof terrace and our room was very clean., receptionists spoke very good english and went out of their way to find the location / directions to the concert venue that we were going to on the saturday., location is more in the residential part of rome, 5 minute walk to the nearest underground metro that gets you to all the major attractions of rome., would stay here again!, ps a lovely cappacino for breakfast together with warm croissants, bread and a variety of cereal, a good starter for the day ahead, all within the price.

i was with my wife to accompany a group of tourist that were staying in another hotel. this hotel was nice, the breakfast on the terrace at the top of the building has been pleasant. i thought it was closer to he city center, but it has a very good rate price/quality.

i was quite surprised at the room quality and clealiness. it seems that each room has a balcony, and although i get vertigo at anything above pavement level, i can see how others might view this as an advantage., one small note, however, it wasn't made clear the whilst venere.com took my credit card details, i had to pay the hotel directly. almost caused an arguement!

ciao sono andato a roma il 10 maggio e devo dire di essermi trovato bene in questa struttura alberghiera. le camere pulite e la colazione buona. si è abbastanza vicini al metro e lo staff è stato molto disponibile x varie informazioni.solo un consiglio: dopo aver prenotato con venere richiedete la conferma all'albergo via mail o telefono xchè quando sono arrivato non sapevano nulla, fortunatamente avevano una camera libera!!!

i was sceptical of previous ratings by other guests before i arrived. their ratings were very good for such a cheap hotel. however, on arrival, i found the staff extremely helpful, their english put me to shame and their knowledge of rome and local good restaurants was invaluable. to top it all off nicely, was the fact that the metro was just around the corner, and cost £2.60 for a day's travel.

this is a really good place and the closest metro line is about a couple of minutes on foot. the location, though a bit out of the city centre is well connected and has good eating joints. the personnel were friendly and helpful., the only small grievance is that, we were not informed earlier about the hotel being closed on the christmas day.

we stayed three nights at this hotel and really liked it. staff was nice, our room was great just like the pictures showed, and breakfast was great. dont expect eggs and ham though... it was basically crossiants, cold cereal, yogurt, and great coffee, but that was better for us than paying 5 euros per person for that same food somewhere else. the location was fine... you basically have to choose between location and price, so we chose price. it is about a 15 minute metro ride for there to the center, and their metro system in rome is awful!! they are so crowed we had to wait at least for 3 train rides every time until one stopped that had enough room and then you have to fight with the rest of the people that are trying to get in. and the time between time is too long, people are jammed packed, they are dirty, and full of graffity. so make time for that experience. overall, its a great place to stay if you dont mind not being in the center of rome.

this was a nice hotel close to the metro... due to construction the metro closes at 8pm, so you have to take a bus, which wasn't too bad.. a little hard to find (we had to ask for directions & it is the only hotel in the area so everyone knew where it was)... the breakfast was great! the room was not too small, except the shower... we were there at a time that wasn't too busy so the noise wasn't bad, but due to the hardwood flooring in the hallways you could hear everything going on. the staff was very friendly and spoke english... they have a computer for internet access but it was down while we were there. overall it was a nice hotel and it was much cheaper than comparable hotels in rome... we would definitely stay here again!

this is a great location at an excellent cost. we came in by train and took suitcases and all via the metro with the excellent directions given, cost just 2euros. be very careful of pick pockets!, this was the most helpful staff we came across in italy in our 3+ weeks of travel. it was much better service than we got in 4 star hotels, including one right in downtown rome., thank you for a great rome stay!

secondo noi è tenuto molto male, la donna di pulizia non sa pulire. per fare la colazione c'era la fila, i tavoli erano disordinati è non tanto puliti! somma sommarum, sulle foto sembrava tutto nuovo, bello invece in realtà non era così!!

im prinzip kann ich nicht mehr schreiben, als die gäste vor mir. das hotel liegt etwas außerhalb von rom, was nachts etwas problematisch ist. ab 22 uhr fährt ein bus ma1 die haltestellen der u-bahn an. , die zimmer sind riesig und gut mit 3 personen zu belegen. zwar etwas hellhörig, aber sonst für diesen preis wirklich in ordnung., das kleine frühstück ist ausreichend und die dachterrasse wirklich schön. , insgesamt stimmt das preis-leistungsverhältnis.

a very enjoyable stay with good links to ciampino airport and to the city. surrounding area has plenty of shops and some restaurants.some aircraft noise but did not affect sleeping hours. staff very helpful - fluent english. large, clean rooms. free lockable luggage room. we would certainly return.

we had a very enjoyable stay at city guest house. the room was clean & spacious. however our room was directly beneath the breakfast area so at 7am each morning we awoke to the sound of moving chairs & high heeled shoes. this was very annoying. the pizzeria nearby was fantastic. we also did not know prior to our arrival the metro stopped running at 9pm but we had no problem getting the buses.

we enjoyed our stay at the city guest house. the staff is very helpful, friendly and welcoming. breakfast was great!, the room was okay. the ceiling light and fan in the bathroom were both inoperative and did not get repaired during our stay. also, the towels were only changed once during our stay, (five nights) and then at our request. otherwise the room was cleaned each day and there were no problems. , the neighborhood of the hotel is not "tourist, rome". it is a middle working class area of the city and is an absolute delight with many places to eat, shop, meet people and just "hang out". , i would recommend city guest house to friends visiting rome, based on the staff, area and general good feelings and atmosphere. but, they need to respond to the little things that make a stay more enjoyable.

la verdad es que nos ha encantado.es tal cual se ve en las fotos.y lo mejor el trato del personal.no esta en el centro,pero al tener el metro al lado,no es ningun inconveniente.

remember to reserve your rome hotel at least 3 months in advance...or you'll end up being stuck with whatever you can manage to find at the last minute- like we were. the taxi ride from fumico airport in rome is about 80 euros (45 minute ride via freeway), because of the distance of the hotel from the center of rome. the hotel rooms were less than basic & very sterile feeling. the neighborhood is similar to an american run down ghetto (not a judgement, merely an observation). the scale of the map on venere shows the hotel much closer to the center of rome than it actually is. it is about a very crowded 20 minute subway ride away from the perimeter of the center of rome. note: subways are functional, but hot, dirty, dimly lit & not by any means comfortable. we ended working with the desk clerk the night of our arrival to cancel the remaining days stay at the hotel & found a private party one bedroom apartment near the vatican (3 blocks away) for only 100 euro cash per night & loved it. questions: jsandoval@chw.edu

our room was a little dismal compared to the photographs. the breakfast room was nice and breakfast food good. tube stops at 9pm so bus back from rome only which was a little long.

estan bien las instalaciones, un poco dificil de encontrar, el dueño es bastan te amable. el desayuno la verdad es que me lo esperaba de otra manera y no me hizo mucha gracia, en los al rededores no hay mucho pero es que está un poco a las afueras, no está tan cerca del centro como me esperaba pero el resto bien.

a very good hotel, but it is in a residential area so there is not much scope for the average tourist. prices around the hotel were cheap but we had to resort to the point and indicate method when asking for things locally.

l'hotel è molto carino e accogliente, le camere sono spaziose e far colazione sulla terrazza è molto piacevole. l'unica cosa è che non è molto vicino al centro. bisogna sempre prendere la metropolitana e visto che da gennaio 2005 la linea rossa chiude alle 21.00 rimane un pò scomodo per muoversi la sera. ci sono i pullman sostitutivi ma chiedete informazioni visto che nelle stazioni non è indicato.

the hotel staff was very helpful. on arrival, my daughter had realized that she had left her passport back in our hotel in siena. the hotel staff called the hotel in siena and arranged for courier delivery of the passport the next day. the hotel location is a bit away from the center of rome, but is quieter because of that. the down side of course is that you have to ride the rome subway. one of our group had their pocket picked (a wallet out of a front pocket), so beware!

i already left a note for the manager when i left. staff are superb! very very helpful. even beyond expectation. (and really pretty!)

the whole staff was very competent and friendly. the place where you take the breakfast (in the 5th floor) is really nice and allows for a relaxed breakfast in the morning., the breakfast itself is ok, but rather small.

fantastic stay at a excellent price. room was very big and was cleaned every day. our room had a big balcony. hotel was 5 mins walk from the metro which was 10-15 mins from the city centre. local resturants were again only 5 mins walk., breakfast was adequete on a nice balcony location, with sun on your back in the morning!!! how good is that! they even let you take your breakfast to your room soyou can earn brownie points from your loved one ;, overall fantastic and will denfinately use the city guest house next time

i had my birthday on the date we arrived, so that the guy at the reception made me a great pleasure in giving my the best room... on the last floor with a big balcony. it was so nice!, we were both satisfied with our accomodation, also with the metro to go into the city of rom. there are also a lot of buses, so that you always find your way home...

we will come back again!, all people in the hotel (only one boy was a bit . . .) are very friendly and helpful. rooms were quite large, also the bathroom., the location is great: cheap restaurants and excellent bars (pizza 4,50€; 1ltr. of an excellent rosso di montalcino: 5,60 €, glass of wine 1€, cappucco 0,80€ and any time of best quality- it was heaven on earth!!!), good shops and a lot of nice people!!!, the best hotel in rome we've ever had.

upon arrival i found the staff extremley unhelpful and rather obnoxious. , on the first evening the air conditioning developed a fault and dripped all night keeping us awake most the evening. in the morning we reported this and they said they would fix it while we were out that day., second evening it seemed fixed at first, however at 2am it started again. so once again a night of no sleep. when i went down on the morning to report this i was met with the same response "we'l fix it today". this was of no jelp to us as we were checking out that morning. at no point were we offered compensation, or even an apology. it totally ruined our time in rome. my partner was 6months pregnant and they new this. she only managed 2 hours walk on the second day. hundreds of pounds wasted.

we expected to get our breakfast from a machine, but they changed that a few months ago. now you get a modest breakfast, but with delicious fresh pie every morning and good capuccino or espresso (ask for it, the coffee from the machine is not so good). , the center is not far, taxi rides at night cost us eur 15,-, both from campo di fiori as from the spanish steps., the only negative thing i can think of is that there is no furniture on the balcony., we would definately stay here again if we come back!

excellent room, quiet location. a bit further from the centre of rome than we thought, but easy enough to do with the metro line a. alltogether good value for money.

the "city guest house" was very good. the rooms were ok and the breakfast was also good and enough (croissants, bread, jam, cornflakes, cappucino ...). the metro-station was not far away (5 min. to walk) and then 10 - 15 min. by metro into the city. if we come to rome next time, we will stay in this hotel again.

another venere good find. the hotel was very good as was the service. distance from city centre was a little inconvenient[no slipping in for an hour to rest our tired legs!]but we were forwarned. also, the night we missed the last metro [at 11 pm] we were ripped off by the taxi we had to take. on the whole a great holiday and excellent value for money.

our room was unusually spacious with large bathrooms and functional decoration. it had a small balcony and it was cleaned daily. the hotel is located at a nice neighbourhood a bit off the city centre, but is very well connected by metro and night buses. there are plenty of excellent restaurants, frequented mainly by locals, around that provide an excellent alternative to the abundance of second-rate tourist menus of the central areas. breakfast is from an automatic vendor machine, which is ok for an undemanding quick snack and a coffee at anytime. excellent hotel overall, especially considering its low-price.

alles in allem in ordnung, frühstück leider nur aus dem automaten, reinigung vor allem der dusche unzulänglich, sehr hellhörige wände., sprachlich hervoragendes personal (englisch), auch sehr freundlich, sehr nah zur u-bahnstation, sehr viele gute und günstige pizzerien im umkreis.

hi,, also das preis/leistungsverhältnis ist sehr in ordnung. hotelzimmer sind im 3. & 4. stock eines wohngebäudes. im erdgeschoss ist die rezeption untergebracht. sehr gutes englisch wird gesprochen und es besteht die möglichkeit kostenlos einen internetzugang (mit einem mac) zu benutzen. in der näheren umgebung (u-bahn station (groß) und gegenüber (klein & teurer)) befinden sich supermärkte und restaurants, auch einige fastfoodlokale sind in der näheren umgebung. , nur 10 min wegzeit von termini ist etwas untertrieben, wir benötigten immer so um die 20 min.. dafür ist die gegend eine sehr angenehme, nicht so wie die gegend rund um den bahnhof. , das frühstück bezieht man aus einem automaten (kaffee- bzw. tee- und süssigkeitenautomat), für den bekommt man bei ankuft einen stick mit guthaben. am abreisetag muss man das zimmer bis 11h00 verlassen, das gebäck kann jedoch in einem eigenen raum gelassen werden. , unser zimmer hatte auch einen kleinen balkon, war aber etwas zu kalt um ihn zu benutzen, und ein großzügiges bad mit wanne. das zimmer wird im winter mit der klimaanlage geheizt, was zu einer nicht allzuhohen temperatur führt ;) dafür ist im sommer dann eine klimaanlage verfügbar., alles im allen sehr zu empfehlen, für wenig geld gute lage und komfortable unterkunft.

everything was good but the only hot drinks machine which was supposed to be used for breakfast didn't work all the time we were there, everything else was exellent, transport just round the corner, pizzeria near was actually a chinese exellent meal and very cheap,rooms big would certainly book there again.

good points , * great price, nice location, only 10 minutes from termini. about a 2 minute walk from the subway (and a nice pizza place in between to make late returns with no dinner a nice stop)., * very friendly greeting and willing to help provide pointers for the stay in rome., bad points: , ** breakfast...two machines, one for some coffee and another for a sweet roll (or something equivalent for each). this is done through a chip loaded with about 2 euro each so you can get a coffee/espresso for about .65, and another roll for about .75 enough to get you started out the door, however if you rely on a big breakfast, plan on enjoying the morning air and going out for a walk., ** my room smelled, somewhat like cigarette smoke. ask for a room with no smoking. my problem was taken care of when i went and talked to the mgmt. room was sprayed which helped along with me opening the windows in the morning and at first upon return., overall , ***great price for room with no frills stay. if you plan on getting out to see the sights, this is a great place! if you want to sit in a room to watch tv, or expecting room service, go somewhere else.

very good hotel for the price (newly renovated), a two minute walk to the metro, although don't try to take your luggage with you during peak hour, you won't get on! close to banks and supermercato. very recommended to stay, but make sure you have a map of the area when trying to find it.

i even had a balcony. good bathroom. bed a bit narrow but comfy enough. very clean. proximity to metro station compensates distance from town. everything straightforward and hassle free.

the self-service corner for breakfast should have some more possibilities to choose, not only sweets and drinks - but all around our stay there was really o.k.!

had a 'fantasica' stay. the hotel was well located in a traditonally italian area which is nicer than stating right in the centre as its less touristy and feels more like 'being abroad'. still it is very near to metro so easy to get around. the staff were extreemly friendly and helpful and made our holiday very enjoyable. , our room (501) was georgous - really big, clean and with a massive roof terrace overlooking the quaint streets. we would both definitly choose to stay here again and give it top marks for value, service, location and friendliness!

room was like an apartment very spacious, modern decor, newly tiled large bathroom. hotel close to metro allowing easy 30 min access to centre. shops and restaurants close added local flavour to hotel location by being out of the main touristy area. having access to email, informed and helpful staff and a fixed price taxi to airport made for a relaxed enjoyable stress free visit to roma. so glad we chose city guest house.

i do recommand this hotel even if not located in town center. , all was really perfect. , in one word : excellent !!

the "breakfast" was very disappointing. i very much missed the fresh bread. this is not what you expect when they say "breakfast included". , maybe the location should be clearer on the website: at least tell which subway station to go to. we had much trouble finding it the first time., the matrasses were a bit hard. the towels were strange, but it worked.

the hotel is still in the city, but not in an area covered in guide books. yet it was nice that it was where "real" people were living their day to day lives. the prices for shopping and eating in the area were a lot more realistic than those areas near tourist sites. it was very convenient to the metro - a definite plus! the woman running the place even got up early to check us out as we had a plane to catch.
