 clasic design building, fantastic stair well & glazed rooflights
the hotel did not have email confirmation of our stay,very worrying at time, lucky i had copy of confirmation, but only twin bed rooms avaialable. we accepted twin room, providing double room should became available,as confirmation. double room became available latter, staff sorted out change of room during evening. very helpfull staff
we are both mid 40's, might be nearer mature,but prefer to use young couple on your questionaire.

staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous. ( there could have ben more staff to clear the breakfast tables during the serivce)
cooked breakfast was 'tepid' at best and the food and service at breakfast was below the standard one would expect from a 4* rated hotel.
the furnishings & decor were generally scruffy and in need of re-decorating. it was noticed, howerver that there were some major redecorations taking place in parts of the hotel, but this was not reflected in the rates charged.

central location. bed very comfortable.
problems getting any food after 2 p.m. particularly sunday (day we arrived) no lunch! no bar snacks/sandwiches! also apart from the dining room you cannot get a light meal in the evening. also our request for room overlooking the park was ignored

large, attractive room with spacious, well-equipped bathroom.
bed far too small and with a cheap mattress; not of good enough quality and size for such a large and expensive room
apart from the bed, the only other complaint was the slowness of the service in the dining-room. we had to wait an hour for the first course to arrive. the food, when it did come, was of good quality.

the comfort and cleanliness offered.
the queens offered everything it said it would. the staff were extremely helpful, the room was exactly as described on the website, dinner in the restaurant was very good and the hotel itself offers a very high standard of care without losing that personal touch.
